Viral "Vote Ad" Targets Millions via Web

Unique email dramatizes importance of voting / provides registration info.

New Haven, CT (PRWEB) October 21, 2008 -- Combine the country's biggest issue with a viral marketing strategy and some Madison Ave creativity, and the result is a simple email stating: IF YOU DON'T VOTE, YOU MAY REGRET IT FOR DAYS .... followed by a list of every day for the next four years. At the bottom, the call-to-action says: "Forward this to 5 friends today and help this message reach millions by November 4th." It also includes the line: "Be sure you're registered" with a link to RocktheVote.com -- a non-partisan site providing voting and registration info.

John Follis, president of Follis Advertising LLC, got inspired to create the public service ad when he saw a US Census Report stating that 46% of U.S. citizens, age 18 and over, did not vote in the 2004 election. "This election is too important for anyone not to vote," says Follis.

Follis sent the email to his 498-person database with an additional 98 Facebook and Twitter friends getting an ad link http://www.follisinc.com/votead.htm to forward. After doing the math Follis calculated that if even just a third of those recipients forward the email, and those 5 do the same, and so on, the compounded effect will reach millions by November 4th.

Follis, who is profiled on Wikipedia, claims that "the most effective marketing solutions are more creative than expensive." Follis Advertising has contributed to over two-dozen causes and non-profits including Unicef, Organ Donation, and Child Abuse Prevention.
