Viral Vote Ad Doubles Site Traffic

(New York, NY) New York agency Follis Inc. is using the viral power of the Internet to increase web site traffic. And voting.

The viral concept that Follis conceived is an email that states, "If you don't vote you may regret it for days" followed by a list of days -- four years of days. The list, which recipients have to scroll down, concludes with "Spread the word" and a subtle hot link tag to the Follis agency site. "I've always had an interest in public service and creative ways to generate web traffic, so this combines both" says Follis president John Follis. (See ad)

In early August a mailing was sent to 600 friends and business contacts many of whom informed Follis they'd passed it on to everyone they know. Follis calculates that if only 25% of those 600 pass it on to 5 others and then 25% of those recipients follow suit, and so on, the number will be 22,396,949 exposures by Election Day.

Regarding how that translates to web traffic Follis says, "I doubt many people will be curious enough to click on the www.follisinc.com hotlink, but if only 2% of the 22,396,949 do that's 448,000 new visitors in 3 months.

Since the effort began in August traffic to the Follis site has already more than doubled.
